July 04 Oh I Luv Saturdays.....what a surprise!Every weekend I'm thinking....please slow down, they go by sooo fast! There's all sorts to do and not enough time to do it. Today didn't help as we slept longer than usual, I think it was coz it was cooler, when it was hot you just don't sleep the same. Its been a great day so far, quite warm but with a few showers....the sort of showers where you don't mind getting wet, if you know what I mean.....warm summer, cozy showers!...(does that sound daft!). We gave the usual shopping a miss and went to Muncaster castle for a few hours. The gardens there are lovely and they have an owl centre and most importantly......a great cafe!, (bet you thought I was going to say pub). We had sandwich, cake & pot of tea. You know what? we didn't even buy any plants from the plant centre, hows that for self control. Once we were back home, (and the cozy showers had stopped), it was a good old tidy of the garden, its looking good. Tonight supper will be smoked salmon and prawn salad, (for me anyway, Buster gets left over meatballs from last night!!....well, he doesn't like salmon!). I've picked lovely mixed salad leaves, herbs and rocked what Buster grew for me, (aw), to have with my salad. Sitting now with a cool glass of Rose, (shut up, I deserve it! ha ha). Hope everyone is doing something fun....let me know what! July 03 Friday feeling...........Yes Friday at last!!!! Usually the word stressed and Friday are never mentioned together, but boy was I ready for home. Its been precisely a week since the controller returned and he's already....well, controlling things. I won't bore you with the details but between him and his sneaky ways....one hot, sticky week plus major machine breakdowns aggghhh......lots of irate phone calls from customers topped it all!! I'm so ready for the weekend. Yeah the rain has started so our planned BBQ has turned into Busters special meatballs and pasta....equally as nice. I know I haven't been around much lately....its a combination of being tired, busy and also stuck for something to say. Never mind, I'm sure there will be plenty to talk about after our trip to Amsterdam next week. June 28 Oh what a good life!!!What a great weekend we've had.....It started funny when we got up at 4.45am, (Busters idea...as if we were going to work!). Watching the news, we were shocked to hear about Michael Jackson dying....as you all were! God, we grew up with his music, so sad! Anyway, we went on our way. Newark was great....the weather was fab....even the Koi show was good, (though all the time I was praying he didn't strike up any Koi conversations with fellow enthusiasts!....that would have been toooo much!). We chilled out at the show with bacon & sausage toasties and a big mug of coffee! After the show it was into Newark town centre.....Buster couldn't resist buying a fig tree! We had a good night at Wetherspoons and the old post office there!....beer gardens and plenty chat! Yesterday we went into Lincoln. We loved it there, never been before, but it had a nice feel to it....canal side restaurants and live rock and roll band playing....just great for us people from the back of beyond! Last night was a bit stressful though, (though we can laugh now). I know I like a glass of wine but always know what I'm doing.....Buster doesn't. I know he's drunk when all he wants to do is eat!!! Hence we just had to go to KFC for a meal he didn't really want....why oh why did he pick a family size bucket and why did I agree. It could have been coz he was just a teeny bit drunk and him dragging a big long piece of toilet roll around on his foot after going to the loo! I tried subtly saying to him about it but eventually had to say "look whats on your foot!"....maybe not so polite! God he's daft that lad. Anyway, as you'll have guessed most of the KFC family bucket went in the bin this morning. I really think we should stop being so daft a our age but with having no kids we seem to have never moved on from our Party mode! Its great to be home though.....we've just had a fab BBQ and have been titivating the garden and putting out our new Japanese ornaments. I will add some pics to this later....shame I don't have the toilet roll one, so funny! June 24 Oh the sun is out again!Just thought I'd pop inside to write a short blog while the sun is behind a cloud....oh, no its out again....quick, quick! Talking about quick, the week so far has flown by, only tomorrow at work then off for 4 days....yipppeeeeee! A weekend away in Nottingham to look forward to. Busters Koi show will be on the agenda, then it will be shopping and fun. I say shopping but lately there is nothing I want. Anyway we will need all the shopping space in the car left free for all Busters purchases of Japanese goodies.....and the odd plant or two. Buster has been watering the garden and potting up loads of gigantic cane that my "boss" at work gave me.....strange!....he maybe likes me after all. Work has been bliss but the controller is back tomorrow, so watch this space!
June 21 Garden festival fun!I'll start by saying "Happy Fathers day" to all you dads out there....and a big hug & kiss to my own dad who has had a hell of a year with all his pain, operations and the end result of losing his leg. He's been very brave & positive....he's facing daily challenges, more difficult than first thought, but I'm sure he'll get there!
Today, thankfully Buster hasn't been to work so we spent a lovely day together. We've been for a day out to Dalemine garden festival near Penrith. The gardens of this old historic house were beautiful....we were good when it came to buying plants, we only bought two! Then we went around another garden centre in Penrith, (yawn....but we like it!) then it was down the motorway to Carlisle where we went to.....wait for it.....another garden centre, this time it was Houghton Hall but we really just went so we could have lunch there....no purchases of plants! On the way home we stopped at....another garden centre! This is the one we discovered a few weeks ago when Buster spun the car around on spotting greenhouse roofs. This time we bought 4 fushias and some dark purple salvia for a pot we had standing empty in the garden, (come on, you can't expect any pot to be left empty in our garden). So its been a good day for both of us. At least this week at work will be a short week, we're off to a Koi show on Friday, where I know Buster wants to buy some Japanese lanterns for his precious pond. Good job I share his hobbies....we're as bad as each
other really!
June 19 If you want fun, wit, charm with intelligent conversation....please exit now!Ok, so its Friday, so what, who cares, I never liked the day anyway!.....(liar, liar) I am sooo happy to be home. Its great, especially when you have done a few back shifts where I never see Buster for more than 5 Min's in the morning and 5 Min's at night. Yesterday I looked at him and said "Is that the same top you had on on Sunday?"....dirty beggar, (thats another story!) and like...."you need a shave!". Sound like a nagging wife, but far from it, I just love spending time with him. Anyway.....thought we'd do something different tonight....so, Buster is cooking, with my guidance and cleaning up skills, ha ha. We are making a Maxwell concoction of bacon, leek, chicken and potato bake....a bit like a hot pot with sliced potatos on top, we seem to have knocked our Chinese takeaway on the head. This is much more healthier and we are washing it down with a glass of freshly squeezed juice, (that bit may or may not be true!). I'll catch you later to tell you what the grub is like! June 18 Nowt to say....I'm officially boring!Nearly the weekend....god, we certainly can't complain about how fast the week goes by. I've been enjoying work lately which does help.....because as much as I enjoy weekends, you need to make the best of the rest of your time. I've just been updating the software on my iPhone. It has new features like voice recording, (handy for meetings where the controller is being "bossy"....gotcha Totty bonce!!). Also when playing the ipod you can shake it and it plays another song....I'm sure that will amuse me for at least 1/2 an hour. I've turned really boring lately and can I hell think of owt to say here. Think I'll go and have a browse on ebay for old railway signs....don't know why, just like signs and think one will look good in the garden. June 14 BBQ weather. Now this weekend is one reason why we shouldn't listen to the weather forecast! Its been lovely! We've finally managed to have our BBQ today....yummmmm. Its been two good days, yesterday it was just a compulsory trip to a garden center which was for a few white petunias for my silver, large window box. The white pansies had gone straggly although the lime green foliage plant and giant alliums looked fab. Replace them and jobs done....I thought. My mistake tho' I mentioned to Buster that I liked the wrought iron window box, crammed with succulents....he virtually ran to ask the man the cost. Then before I knew it, I was the proud owner of not one but two of these boxes, (thanks Mr gardening man for telling Buster there was a matching one....for future reference!) Buster doesn't wait for anything, (hey!), Anyway, one is beside the pond while the other looks lovely next to my front door. Oh and we also bought two gorgeous deep purple and white fuschias! Yesterday was a brill day....loads of hard work in the garden but great when its all done. Today has been much more relaxed day. A day out to Cockermouth....err, garden centre, but this time it was for two sackfuls of bird food. We did have a sandwich and tea in The Lakes coffee shop.
June 13 I love rain!!!
Buster phoned me up at work yesterday in a mood and said "that blooming Pink tool kit, (bit stronger words were used), is going in the bin!!!" You remember the pink toolkit is a woman's tool kit that I bought and was going to be used for all sorts of DIY that I never did!....well, it seems Buster used a Philips screwdriver to fix some brackets for a mirror in the bathroom, (as a surprise for me....but could have been coz I had nagged a tadge!)....this screwdriver was maybe not a proper "man" screwdriver and it slipped and stuck in his thumb! He now has a star shaped stab wound in his thumb that was still bleeding through his plaster! Oops! So the Pink toolkit is not popular anymore. I'll best check that he hasn't actually threw it out as you never know when it'll come in handy. June 12 Trouble at the mill.....Yippeeeeee its Friday! Even though I'm working a Friday back shift and a night shift combined, I'm surprisingly happy! The good news is I'll get a payment plus another day off, so maybe that has something to do with it. We need to work extra shifts because we have been closed down for maintenance. Anyway, we're having a Chinese and a lot of laughs!, (I hope!). I'm saying that, but I was wound up by one team member especially who complained about another member. She wanted me to "do something about his attitude" but didn't want to make her name known or officially complain. She didn't give me any evidence as such. I explained that as a team leader I couldn't go diving in and discipline someone without someone making an official complaint or without witnessing any of it. You've got to treat everyone fairly and equally otherwise the unions would have a field day! This woman seems to have had an issue with many of the team at one point and I was a bit upset by her husbands ranting of "You've got a F******* team leader, get her to deal with it! Don't get me wrong, I will discipline them if I have proof but its just not my style to go in feet first. What I will do though, is spend as much time as possible on the shop floor to see what the problem is. I did this last night but everyone was laughing and joking and it all left me scratching my head. We'll say what today brings.
